Tsion is in charge of all projects undertaken by the transmission and substation department, which is mandated for building transmission and substations, at the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP). Her responsibilities as a director include overseeing the execution, quality, and timeliness of all projects following the contract.

She joined EEP as a junior electrical engineer and worked in this position for five years. She then was promoted to project manager and worked in this position for five more years. Then she was promoted to her current position as program director.

Tsion has managed and taken part in several transmission and substation projects. For example, she took part in the Genale Dawa Transmission project, the GERD Transmission projects,  Adama industry park, Bole Lemi, Kilinto, Debrezeit Transmission Projects.

Following the recent restructuring of the transmission and substation department, Tsion is currently leading ten projects that are under her. She has led different Transmission and substation construction projects with different scopes in different places. In her previous role as a project manager, she has led five projects.

Tsion has tried to improve the participation of women in EEP by giving opportunities to other fellow women colleagues. For example, when she took a leave of absence, she assigned another female coworker to take her place based on their merit. In her role as a project manager, she has worked with fresh graduates. Female graduates who started their career at EEP working with her are currently performing well in their respective positions.

Tsion has faced a few challenges as a woman while working in EEP, such as being undermined because she is a woman.  She counters such challenges by explaining and proving herself through her work.
