The Ethiopian Women in Energy Association (EWiEn) is seeking to hire a Gender Lead to provide technical leadership, coordination, and programmatic expertise in advancing gender equality, social inclusion, and women’s leadership across the Association’s initiatives. The successful candidate will support the integration of gender-transformative, evidence-based approaches across EWiEn’s programs, research, advocacy, and policy work, while coordinating the Secretariat of the Gender and Energy Technical Working Group (GE-TWG).

The Gender Lead will be responsible for leading the operational and technical functions of the GE-TWG Secretariat in close collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE), supporting the development of project proposals and grant applications, and producing high-quality gender briefs, policy notes, analytical reports, guidelines, and other knowledge products. The role will also provide gender technical oversight to project initiatives, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and represent EWiEn in relevant technical discussions, consultations, and sector platforms.

We are looking for a proactive and technically strong professional with demonstrated expertise in gender equality, social inclusion, program development, research, policy, and stakeholder coordination, preferably with experience in the energy or development sector. The successful candidate should have strong analytical, writing, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate gender and sector evidence into practical, gender-transformative interventions and policy recommendations.

The Gender Lead will report to the Programme Coordinator and will contribute to ensuring that EWiEn’s projects, research outputs, advocacy efforts, and institutional initiatives effectively advance gender-responsive and inclusive approaches within Ethiopia’s energy transition.
