Term and Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your membership in Ethiopian women in Energy (“Association”). By applying for or maintaining membership, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Eligibility and Application

2.1 Membership is open to Ethiopian women, any Age, any residency, Energy profession, interest in Energy. 

2.2 To apply for membership, you must register using the form and pay the required fees.

2.3 The Association reserves the right to approve or deny membership applications at its sole discretion.

3. Member Benefits and Responsibilities

3.1 As a member, you are entitled to the following benefits: 

Networking, Capacity building, Spotlights and Advocacy activities. 

3.2 As a member, you are responsible for:

Pay your membership fee annually, attend the annual general Assembly, respect opinions, diversity, paying dues, upholding ethical codes, and respecting others. 

4. Dues and Fees

4.1 Annual membership dues are free for students, 500 birr for basic members, 1000 birr for premium members and In Kind contribution for Honorary members. Dues are payable annually. 

4.2 The Association may offer additional services or events for which separate fees may apply.

4.3 Refunds will not be granted for membership dues, except in the case of termination of membership by the Association.

 5. Membership Duration and Renewal

5.1 Membership terms are annual.

5.2 Memberships will not automatically renew unless you pay your membership fee annually. 

5.3 The Association reserves the right to terminate your membership at any time for cause, including non-payment of dues, violation of the Code of Conduct, or any other breach of these Terms.

6. Code of Conduct

6.1 Members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times.

6.2 The Association has adopted a Code of Conduct/ bylaw which outlines the specific expectations for member behavior. You can find the Code of Conduct on the Association website or by contacting the Association office.

6.3 Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of membership.

Preamble:

Ethiopian Women in Energy Association is committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and ethical environment for all members, volunteers, and stakeholders. This Code of Conduct outlines our shared expectations for behavior to ensure a positive and productive experience for everyone.

I. Core Values:

  • Respect: Treat all individuals with courtesy, dignity, and respect, regardless of their background, beliefs, or opinions.

  • Integrity: Act with honesty, fairness, and transparency in all interactions.

  • Professionalism: Conduct yourself in a professional manner, upholding high ethical standards in all your activities.

  • Inclusivity: Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

  • Collaboration: Work together effectively and cooperatively to achieve common goals.

II. Expected Behavior:

  • Communication: Communicate respectfully and constructively, avoiding personal attacks, offensive language, or discriminatory remarks.

  • Discrimination and Harassment: Prohibit any form of discrimination or harassment based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.

  • Conflicts of Interest: Avoid situations where personal interests could conflict with the interests of the Association.

  • Intellectual Property: Respect the intellectual property rights of others, including proper attribution and citation.

  • Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information entrusted to you by the Association or its members.

  • Financial Responsibility: Use the Association’s resources responsibly and in accordance with its policies.

  • Compliance with Laws: Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.

III. Unacceptable Behavior:

  • Violence, threats, or intimidation.

  • Discriminatory or offensive language or behavior.

  • Harassment or bullying.

  • Theft, fraud, or misuse of Association resources.

  • Unauthorized access to confidential information.

  • Violations of intellectual property rights.

  • Dishonesty or unethical conduct.

  • Failure to comply with the Association’s policies and procedures.

IV. Reporting and Resolution:

Any member, volunteer, or stakeholder who believes that the Code of Conduct has been violated may report the incident to the Association’s [designated reporting body] through email: Report@ewien.org. Complaints will be investigated promptly and confidentially, and appropriate action will be taken if necessary.

V. Amendments and Modifications:

The Association reserves the right to amend or modify this Code of Conduct at any time. Any amendments or modifications will be effective immediately upon posting on the Association website or upon written notice to members.

VI. Effect of Violation:

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion from the Association.

 

7. Dispute Resolution

7.1 Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms will be settled through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of Ethiopia. 

7.2 The arbitration will be held in Addis Ababa and conducted in the Amharic language.

7.3 The decision of the arbitrator will be final and binding on both parties.

 

8. Amendments and Modifications

8.1 The Association reserves the right to amend or modify these Terms at any time.

8.2 Any amendments or modifications will be effective immediately upon posting on the Association website or upon written notice to members.

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

9.1 These Terms will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of of Ethiopia

9.2 The courts of Ethiopia will have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms.

10. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the Association with respect to your membership.

11. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision will be struck and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

12. Waiver

No waiver of any provision of these Terms will be effective unless in writing and signed by the Association.

13. Notice

All notices required or permitted hereunder will be in writing and will be deemed to have been duly given when delivered personally, sent by certified or registered mail, postage prepaid, return receipt requested, or sent by overnight courier service, addressed as follows:
